DAYCARE CLOSED ON JANUARY 29TH.

DAYCARE WILL BE CLOSED ON JANUARY 29TH FOR A PERSONAL DAY. THIS DAY WILL GO TOWARDS MY 10 PERSONAL/SICK DAYS. CHILDCARE PAYMENTS FOR THAT FRIDAY WILL NEED TO BE PAID ON THURSDAY.

Back from Xmas already!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas break! It's hard to believe that it has came and gone already! During Christmas break, we will not be doing many preschool worksheets. It gives everyone a well needed break! Preschool will resume Jan. 4th. We will be working on winter fun, E, & F, blue, purple, and triangles. We continue to work on our songs. Everyone is learning "If your Happy and You know it" and "5 little Monkeys". These continue to be their favs... Everyone had a great time learning "Rudolph" with their reindeer puppets even if the song was a little hard. Now with the cold upon us, the kids have enjoyed playing parachute inside and riding the bikes through the house and garage!
I will be working on reciepts for 2009 this weekend. Please let me know if you have not already if you would like one.
Thanks to everyone for participating in the gift exchange. It's really fun for the kids to give their friends a gift. It brings out the true meaning of Christmas. Thank-you to everyone for all the gifts for Melissa and I. They were so thoughtful! I hope everyone enjoyed their ornaments from us. They will be a great memory to look back on as the kids grow.
Remember Daycare will be closing at 4:30 on New Year's eve and reopen on Monday the 4th. If you normally on Friday please pay on Thursday, since the banks will be closed on Friday. Checks need to be able to be deposited on Thursday. This is the routine we follow anytime daycare is closed on a Friday.

This weekend must have been a busy weekend for everyone. Everyone was alittle touchy this morning. Lots of little teeth were on the lose. We will keep working on this problem by separating kids when we are not in the room, time-out, redirection, and positive reinforcement.
Wednesday night I will be taking Ashley to the counsler in N.Liberty in preperation for Monday. Remember as of now, we will be closed on Monday for trial.
I have a bucket of boots and snowpants for people to use if they would like. Just let me know if you would like to look at them.
I am starting to gather a few socks. If you are missing socks just let me know and you can look through the basket. Another thing that I have found helpful when I have alot of kids that are the same age is to put initials on the bottoms of their socks.
We have been working hard on filling our room with lots of homemade xmas decorations. The kids are also working on saying Ho Ho Ho... Hopefully by xmas they will all be able to say Ho Ho Ho on command by xmas eve. :)

We will be open during bad weather. However please plan accordingly to leave yourself enough time to arrive at daycare before closing. If the power went out children would need to be picked up.
We will be doing our drawing Tuesday. The gift should be $10. We will have our holiday party on the 23rd.

We just got back from the Playstation! Everyone had a great time. What a perfect day to go too...  Hope everyone has a great  Thanksgiving.  We are thankful to have all of you in our lives. Cedar Rapids was a hard move, but great families like yours have made the transition easier!

Please send in December wipes sometime in the next week.

I normally do a gift exchange with the kids for $10. We will have a Xmas party on the 23rd. and exchange gifts then. If anyone wishes to not be included in the gift exchange please let me know. We will draw names next Friday.

1 thing I forgot to tell you is that I will be gone this afternoon. (Hopefully be back around 5) Had to take Hillary to Dr. Melissa has details if needed. We had a good morning of preschool, a walk, and playing outside. After lunch we celebrated Taitumn's bday. Everyone loved the cake!

Thanksgiving Week

Thanks for everyone that came to Taitumn's bday! I really enjoyed getting to spend time with everyone outside of daycare. We will be having cake and ice cream today for Taitumn's daycare party. Be prepared if our house is alittle crazy this week. It tends to be like that when the girls are home during the holidays. The little kids love having the girls home, but I am always excited for school to start back up.
We will be finishing up our turkey preschool and getting ready for winter things.(even though it don't seem like winter)
 Remember: Daycare is closed Thursday and Friday. If you pay on Friday's please make sure you pay by the end of Wednesday.
Also... Saturday I got a letter from the district attorney regarding Ashley and a depostion. We have not recieved word on when it will be, but the letter read that it will be as little as a few days notice with a telephone call. I will let you know if  I need to be closed that day. The trial is now scheduled for Dec. 14 at 9 am. I will need to be closed that day. If it gets rescheduled I will let everyone know asap. I know this is a hassle and I am sorry for that. Please understand that I would much rather be doing daycare than going to this. I will keep everyone updated. Please keep Ashley in your prayers as she faces these hard challenges  and that she will find the strength to help put this criminal were he belongs. <3

REMINDER: DAYCARE WILL BE CLOSED NEXT  THURSDAY AND FRIDAY FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY.

Feel free to take your child's turkey off the wall to display at home. They are so cute, we want you to enjoy them 2!

Currently we have a few biters! YIKES!! I have a hand out about biting. It's a  very common thing for 2yr.s olds. They bite when they are tired, stressed, getting new teeth, and when they are fighting with friends over toys or even attention. I will continue to remove them from the situation, tell them that teeth are not for bitting and apoligize to there friend.  I will try as much as possible to keep biters close at hand, but with as many as I have right now, it will be impossible to catch all of the bites. I also will notify you if your child bites or got bit.

We have been working really hard on "If your Happy and You know it". If you get a chance sing it with your child and they should "sing" along.

Melissa has given her 2 weeks at the hospital. She will get to be home with us all the time. Yeah!! It will be nice to have the extra hands and company. Please feel free to talk to Melissa or I about anything. I think everyone will be happy with 2 providers for the price of 1.

Monday evening I will not be home for pick-ups. I need to take Hillary to the phycologist in Iowa City at 2:45. I think I will miss most of you. If there is anything that you need to tell me, just let Melissa know.

I hope to see you all at Taitumn's Bday! We are so excited to celebrate this day with all our new families and friends in C.R. It will be fun to hang-out  not on daycare time.

So it's been a minute....

Sorry it's been a minute since I have updated this. With everything last week I just have been busy. Glad to say, everything is fine at our house. I am just going to pretend like last week didn't happen. :)
Everyone is back and healthy at the moment! I know that some kids have had to be gone from daycare for awhile, but it is part of the winter season. Over the last 12 yrs. I have done daycare, October to March are always sick months. It never seems like the summer "Healthy" months last long enough. Remember, that when your child is not here payment is still expected to hold your spot.

Please send wipes for the month of November if you have not already brought some. If you can't remember just check the board when you pick up. I have a list on there.  I will also keep the board up to date , in case I don't get on the computer in time. It's amazing how time flies over here  with all these little boys!

I will keep it updated on the board what we will be working on for preschool.
The rest of the month we will be working on Letter B, Color Red, Shape Triangle, and finishing up fall activities. We will continue to have Preschool Mon., Wed, Fri,

Reminder Daycare will be closed on Thanksgiving and the day after. Payment for that normal Friday will need to be made on Wednesday morning.

Last night Tanya (kaden's mom) called to let me know that Kaden will not be here for the rest of the week for sure. He has pneumonia. Kaden had a fever seizure and had to be taken to the ER by ambulance. He is doing o.k. and is on antibiotics.
Here's some info I have found..
.Is pneumonia contagious?

People often ask, is pneumonia contagious? Will we catch the infection if we come in contact with an infected person? Pneumonia is a life-threatening infection of lungs. However, pneumonia itself is not a contagious disease. But bacteria and viruses that cause pneumonia can be contagious. People when exposed to infection may catch the symptoms of normal cough and cold symptoms. It is not necessary that each person, exposed to cold virus or bacteria, develops pneumonia. It depends on the susceptibility and immunity of that individual. Transmission of infection may occur due to direct exposure to infectious secretions.Signs and Symptoms of Pneumonia

In most cases, people have the symptoms of cold before developing pneumonia. It is followed by high fever, cough and shaking chills. Severity of symptoms varies according to the causes and age of the patient. Chest pain is the most common symptom in most types of pneumonia.

• Bacterial pneumonia: Bacterial pneumonia causes symptoms such as high fever, shaking chills, chest pain, sweating, cough with thick, yellow or greenish sputum and shortness of breath.
• Viral pneumonia: Viral pneumonia is characterized by the signs that are similar to flu-like symptoms. It generally starts as a dry cough, fever, fatigue, headache and muscle pain. When the disease progresses, it causes shortness of breath and cough with small quantities of clear or white phlegm. Viral pneumonia invites the risk of developing a secondary bacterial pneumonia.
• Fungal pneumonia: This type of pneumonia is less common. Some people may develop acute pneumonia after inhaling the fungi, while some may develop chronic pneumonia.
• Pneumonia due to Mycoplasma: Mycoplasma causes the signs and symptoms of pneumonia similar to bacterial and viral pneumonia. These symptoms may be flu-like and mild. You may not require any medical treatment for this type of pneumonia. That’s why this pneumonia is known as walking pneumonia.
• Pneumocystis carinii: It is an opportunistic organism that causes infection in people with AIDS. It can lead to pneumonia. The signs of such type of pneumonia are persistent cough, fever and shortness of breath.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Pneumonia

Diagnosis of pneumonia is based on the physical examination, imaging tests such as X-ray, bronchoscopy and certain laboratory investigations such as sputum examination and blood tests such as white blood cell count.

Treatment option for pneumonia is decided depending upon the cause of pneumonia. Pneumonia can be treated with antibiotics, antiviral medications, antifungal medications, etc. Some over-the-counter medications are also recommended to treat pain, reduce fever and soothe the cough.

Kaden's was not diagnosed on X-ray but rather through blood-work. The X-ray said he was fine on Friday, but blood-work that came back from the ER tested positive. Please call me if you have more questions about this.

Thursday 10-29-09

So... Everyone was back today except Braydin. I was happy to have everyone back and have some life to this house. Everyone seems to be getting better. Everyone was a touch on the sensitive side :)  

Rain Rain Go away.... Just when I thought we could get to go to the pumpkin patch it started to pour.

Tomorrow will be our Halloween party. Please bring or send costume. Treats are welcome for the kids to pass out to each other. They love it. I will take lots of pics and get them posted soon.

PLEASE... PLEASE... KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME IF THEY ARE SICK OR HAVE A FEVER. IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET A GRASP ON THIS FLU ISSUE. WHEN KIDS ARE NOT FEELING WELL THEY LIKE 1-1 ATTENTION. SOMETHING THAT I CANNOT PROVIDE WITH OTHER KIDS IN THE HOME. FEVER FREE FOR 24 HRS. BEFORE BACK TO HEATHER'S

Monday will the beginning of the month. Hopefully a new start to a healthy month! Please send a large refill pkg. of wipes (the kind with 3 refills). We go through wipes like crazy. I also donate to the wipe cause. We use them for many things other than poopy butts. So even if your child is potty-trained they still need to bring wipes. THANK-YOU

Tuesday 10-27-09 Health Update

Update on sickness around our house. Taitumn is still fever free. He has a cough and is a little clingy but other than that he is fine. The girls will all be at school tomorrow. Thank  goodness! Melissa will be home for the rest of the week. Yeah! I am still fine. Today Braydin got sick. That leaves only Rowen and Connar that have yet to be sick! Hopefully they will stay healthy.

If your child has had to stay home from daycare due to fever, they need to remain home until they have been fever free for 24 hrs. without any medications. Example: If your child had a fever on Tuesday they would not be able to return until Thursday at the earliest. This ensures that the fever is completely and they will not be contagious. Following these guidelines, along with a clean environment will help stop the spread of these viruses.

We will be trying to go to the pumpkin patch on Thursday weather and healthiness permitting!

Monday October 26th.

So... The flu is back. Taitumn and my girls were sick over the weekend. Taitumn needed to go to the ER. Sunday Landon got sick and had to go to the ER and today I sent Nicholas home with a fever.  Children need to stay home for 24 hrs. fever free. Taitumn has not ran a fever today and was kept away from the kids that were here today. I have also bleached and sanitized our playroom. Typical symptoms the kids have been having are : runny nose, fever, body aches, and cough. The hospitals are not checking for H1N1 unless you are needing to be hospitalized. They are pretty much just saying you have a "flu like" virus. 

Since we were missing some kids today we stayed home. We will try to go to the pumpkin patch on Thursday. Otherwise we will paint pumpkins for an activity.  Please make sure there is $4 here for your child's pumpkin.  We will eat lunch at home, so no need to send a lunch.

Our Halloween party will be on Friday starting at 9:30. Please make sure your child is here on time so we can start promptly. Please bring them in their costume and send xtra clothes. Your more than welcome to send a treat for your child to share. I typically like to let them "Trick or Treat" each other with their candy. They always enjoy this activity and it promotes sharing with their friends which is always a plus!

Please remember that Preschool is on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. I like to get started at 9:30. If your child is not here at that time, we will be starting without them. Please keep me updated with your schedules and times. It makes it hard to go for walks or do certain things when we are waiting for someone and we don't know when they are coming. Also if you are running late please call me. Daycare closes at 5:30. Almost all nights we have plans right after daycare for the girls. If you are not here I may have to take your child with me or I may not be here. Just give me a call.

My cell phone is temporarily off. The phone is broke and I am looking on ebay for a new one. If you need to get ahold of me call 550-2160. If I don't anwser either call right back or leave a message. Lots of times I just can't get to the phone in time.

Today we played outside and collected leaves for our collage.  We also played bean and corn table. We made play-doh "B"s and "2"s. Cirlce time is getting fun. They are starting to know some of the songs we sing everyday. We learned a new pumpkin song today.

Yesterday we celebrated Landon's 3rd bday. We were gonna do it Thursday on his real bday, but that is when Ashley got sick. Everyone enjoyed their cupcake.  Happy Birthday Landon.

All is Well....

Ashley has been fever free for over 30 hrs. I started to get sick but never got a fever. Today I feel fine. So far no one else has been sick.  I think everyone would be safe to come on Monday. I will now be open Monday.

Also, Nicholas has pink eye so keep an eye out for mattered eyes, redness, discharge.

Everything has been cleaned and disinfected and its super bleached out over here.

Sorry to everyone that I told that new pics would be posted. I uploaded them and bumped the cord while they were erasing. I have never had this happen before, but I lost all the pics. I was so sad, I had my 1st pic of Nicholas smiling, Rowen playing and not blurry and some cute pics of Braydin and Taitumn playing together. I will try again and stay clear of the cord. :)

DAYCARE WILL BE OPEN OCTOBER 19TH.

I JUST CHECKED THE COURT RECORDS ONLINE  AND THEY HAVE ASKED FOR A CONTINUANCE AND TRIAL IS NOW SET FOR DEC.14TH. YEAH...JUST WHAT I WANTED TO BE DEALING WITH THIS XMAS!! ANYWAY... I WILL NOW BE ABLE TO BE OPEN THIS MONDAY THE 19TH.  HOWEVER NOW I WILL NEED TO BE CLOSED ON DEC. 14TH. SORRY FOR ALL OF THIS COMMOTION, IT'S SOMETHING I WISH WE WERE NOT DEALING WITH ALSO.

H1N1 has invaded the building.............

Ashley was diagnosed this morning with H1N1. I had to take her into the ER at 4 in the morning. I asked what I should do in regards to my home daycare on weather or not I needed to close daycare or what the recommendations would be. He informed me that I would not need to close the daycare, if Ashley was quarentined to her room and wore a mask. The choice of bringing your child will be up to you. Daycare will be open as always. All precations will be practiced along with good hygiene habits.  Ashley will remain in her room and will be wearing a mask at all times if she needs to be out of her room. Toys will be cleaned on a daily basis with bleach water mix. There is info about H1N1 on the bulletin board. If you have any questions feel free to talk to me.  I will be home tomorrow until 7 p.m. for those who need to drop payment off. If you don't want to come in the house feel free to put it in the mailbox.  Since my house is feeling like the plague, We are going to treat Kaden and Connar to some McDonald's and ToysR'Us looking. They should enjoy it! Ashley is sound asleep after a long night.  I will upload some more pics later today. Please keep me posted on your plans with your child during this time.  

One last note of business, It was brought to my attention that on my website it says that I will be closed on Good Friday and open on Xmas eve. Those are errors that I will get fixed from the person running my page. I will be open on Good Friday and closed on Xmas eve. I have to celebrate Xmas with my kids that day since they go to their dads on Xmas. Sorry for the mistake. Hope this will not cause anyone to much inconvenience.

Monday.....

Lots of excitement this morning. The girls have no school today so that always keeps the kids entertained. They always like having them home. Then since Melissa is home, Marcus from North Liberty brought his new baby brother for a visit. Marcus is 4 so the boys have really enjoyed playing with hi.This morning Landon and Nicholas helped Sissa and I to start raking leaves and taking pics. We were soon halted with drizzly cold rain!

We worked on Bats, Triangles, and Cut/Paste.

We will finish out the month of Preschool with the Letter "B", Triangles, and Halloween things. We will continue with circle time and singing. Your child is learning to sing "If your Happy, and You know it" If you sing it to them they may sing and do the hand movements. We are also working on "5 little Monkeys swinging in a Tree".

We have had a change in dates for the Pumpkin Patch. We will be going on the 26th of October. We will leave here at 11:30, have our picnic, then check out the farm. Melissa's schedule had changed at work. Sorry for the inconvience. We will also be able to attend without a parent, but your still more than welcome to come.

Reminder: Daycare will be closed next Monday. Sorry for the short notice in this event. That is not a typical time frame I give for a day off. I like to at least give 2-3 week notice if not more most of the time.

UNIVERSITY OF IOWA HOSPITAL'S NEW GAME ROOM

OH YEAH..... MELISSA AND I ARE ASKING YOUR GUYS FOR HELP. THERE IS A CONTEST WITH ALL THE HOSPITALS IN THE US WITH XBOX. THE TOP 3 HOSPITALS WILL RECIEVE A 10,000 GAME ROOM IN THERE CHILDRENS HOSPITAL. WE HAVE BEEN IN 2ND AND 3RD PLACE BUT NOW HAVE DROPPED DOWN TO 4TH. HAVING STAYED AT THE U WHEN ASHLEY WAS LITTLE FOR A WEEK AND 2 DAYS WHEN HILLARY IS LITTLE, I KNOW 1ST HAND HOW NICE IT IS TO HAVE THE PLAYROOM. A ROOM LIKE THIS WOULD BE SO NICE FOR SICK KIDS TO BE ABLE TO GO TO THIS GAMEROOM AND GET AWAY FROM THEIR HOSPITAL HOME. THANKFULLY WE ARE LUCKY TO NOT BE PATIENTS THEIR YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT LIFE WILL BRING. PLEASE HELP US WIN THIS ROOM FOR OUR KIDS AT THE U OF I HOSPITAL! Today we finished up our last circle sheets! We also painted our arms and turned them into tree trunks. We used our fingertips to paint the fall leaves on our tree. October 19th daycare will be closed. I will be using a personal day. If you would like to know more about this closing, I will talk to you personally.
